I guess that's a small price to pay in comparison. Esp. if one drives a good bit. :)

We all knew this was coming right? If you can afford an EV you can afford to pay a little more right?

EV owners need to pay their "fair share", is not that the liberal way? Of course $100 is no where near a "fair share".

I saw this article a week or so ago. It sucks, but they need to keep the roads paved somehow, and the EV's aren't using gas (and paying the taxes on gas).

I knew there would soon be some hiden, but, cost to surface to make up for a price the consumer should not have to bear.

They use the roads that are paid for by fuel taxes that we all pay. EVs have to pay their fair share for space on the highways and to cover their wear and tear in the pavement.

Someday everyone may pay by total miles driven with a higher fee for heavier vehicles that tear up the highways and bridges more quickly. Then we wouldn't need a fuel tax per gallon, just a miles driven and a weight factor. You send a monthly check to the Motor Vehicle Department based on how far you traveled and how much your loaded vehicle weighed and how many wheels it had.

They need the gas tax money for roads, and alas I would bet they would have paid a lot more in taxes than $100.00.

Many of those who collect taxes are continually overstepping their obligations of fairness as they exercise an abusive power of the authority granted them. Stop sitting back while they increase that authority. Write to your representatives and remind them this is supposed to be a nation where government may not infringe on your constitutionally guaranteed freedoms nor your property.

First they sell you on the benefits of EV's, then they spring the tax on ya! It's only the beginning. Wait until you go to "recycle" that 3,000 pound battery.

Why don't they just charge those who have stopped smoking cigarettes for the tobacco tax that they are no longer paying?

this is rediculous, as the expense of purchasing an ev is far higher than an equivalent gas powered vehicle, the purchase taxes alone are compensation enough.

Did not hear the EV drivers bitch about the $7500 for buying the car, I know that was a tax write off which nEVer got paid, so someone some how will make up...

Next we can tax the horse and buggys/bike/runners/walkers and wheelchairs that use the roads without paying gas tax???

Smart move. Getting an electric tin can is by no means "Green". I just don't know what color ludicrous is.
