Fracking now would be stupid. Gas is cheap, and the technology is dirty. If they figure out the problems of pollution and quakes, and the price goes up, OK. This is my well water you're talking about. Why give it away and leave the land screwed up for generations?
And willow grows fine here.

Need to be careful with more fracking! More does not equal lower energy costs for New Yorkers.

The protesters are just another bunch of ego-maniacs out to get their “Andy Warhol moment” (15 minutes of fame).

Aw, c'mon...that's one very moronic theory. What right-minded capitalist amasses a commodity only to hold onto it? You drill for fuels in order to sell on the marketplace, to whoever is willing and able to pay for it. You will sell it at the highest price you can get for it, if you're smart.

I hate to say it, but it's a wait and see thing. Now fracking seems safe enough. Will we still say that 5, 10, or 20 years from now?

The correct approach. If this is allowed to run amuck, it would ruin the state for future development, jobs, etc.
