High gas prices creeping into all costs
Saturday, July 05, 2008
Canada.com -- OTTAWA - Oil prices are approaching $150 a barrel and that's driving gas prices upward; but if you think getting to the grocery store is the costly part of the trip, wait until you get through the doors.

Oil is at the top of the consumer food chain and its increased cost is trickling down, fuelling a domino effect on the cost of products and services that most Canadians use and buy every day. From taxis to toilet paper, dry-cleaning to diapers, higher prices for just about everything it seems, are being linked to oil prices.

This is all coming despite figures released Friday saying the volume of gasoline sales, and also of most other fuels, has started to fall.

McCain's campaign used Hensley office equipment such as computers and copiers, and Cindy McCain personally paid some of the campaign's bills

The dollar is worth less than it was in 2000, and becoming worthless. Read this: Dollar - Euro

Excerpt: "The buck doesn't stop here; it just keeps falling

AP - 45 minutes ago

WASHINGTON - Things in the U.S. sure are tough. Brother, can you spare a euro? Signs saying "We accept euros" are cropping up in the windows of some Manhattan retailers. A Belgium company is trying to gobble up St. Louis-based Anheuser-Busch, the nation's largest brewer and iconic Super Bowl advertiser.

it won't be creeping for long. especially with the loss of all the crops here along the mississippi due to flooding. too much of the corn still available will be used in ethanol, further causing food issues.

We vacationed in Virginia Beach and found a Grocery Store (Farm Fresh) that offered gas discounts for buying groceries. We bought the food we needed and saved 15 cents per gallon!

Most transportation of goods depends upon oil-based fuel and that can only equate to higher prices.

Oil is used in part for just about everything. Farming,
Manufacturing, Electric, Trucking and an area alot of people don't think of. Natural Gas. Oil is used in the pumps, that are hydraulic to prevent sparks, that deliver Natural gas to us. Although I don't like government controls, this is one industry where it is needed and sorely laking.

It's bad enough that the high price of gas adds to the cost of everything that depends upon transportation of materials, but then they siphon off grain to make ethanol and that causes the price of food to go even higher.

unfortunately, this is only the beginning. Our economy's grease (pardon the pun) has been cheap oil. Now that its not so cheap, the economy will slow down, the question is how far will go down?

No surprise here! Did you think all that stuff in stores grows in the back room? Even our trash removal service has added a fuel surcharge to their bills.

Creeping into all costs have been happening for a while. They're making smaller containers and keeping the price the same, and we are not supposed to notice. When they raise prices, we are supposed to notice
