Gas prices crack $4 per gallon, so consumers adapt

CBS 12 News -- Prices at some South Florida gas stations are cracking $4 per gallon and likely will keep rising into April. This month is poised to close as the February with the highest gas prices ever, travel club AAA said.

"I don't like it," said motorist Susan Mohr, 54, of Deerfield Beach, as the charity volunteer grouped her errands to try to conserve gas on her rounds. "The price needs to go down."

On Monday, the price of a gallon of regular gas averaged $3.94 in Broward County and $3.96 in Palm Beach County. That's up at least six cents from last week and at least 43 cents from a month ago. It's also at least 13 cents per gallon more expensive than a year ago, AAA said.

this goes to show you how out of touch these knuckle heads are. just because we are not rioting and tearing out gas hoses, doesn't mean we have or will adapt to this lunacy.

Gas prices crack $4 per gallon, so consumers adapt? Adapt with what, public transportation, bycycle, walking, etc. You can only adapt so much and then things have to change.
Big Oil and Big Gas sells fuel and natural gas on the world market for higher prices!
The US ‘oil and natural gas resources’ belong to the citizens of this country and are to be used by those same citizens! The price at the pump needs to go down to $2/gallon - *$3, *$3.50/gallon or *$4.00 is Not the new low!
More Refineries are Not the answer, Stop exporting fuel is!
Take care of the domestic fuel market first and above all else, then think about exporting!
Drive vehicles with high MPG, are very safe, reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money.
The price of fuel at the pump is too high!

The only way to "adapt" is to not drive if you can. Otherwise mass transit!

Only $3.99 here. If only the Republican candidates had won - then gas would be $2.00 to $2.50. That was an early campaign promise.

Obama has been saying since November that his re-election was proof that people want higher taxes. That attitude is the only "trickle down" the Dems ever support.

Consumers have no choice but to buy fuel. Whether people are complaining or not people are not used to it as the article says they probably know it does no good to complain. Gas futures have down three days in a row on the stock market so maybe it will calm down for a few days

In a few months the economic numbers will go down due to the drag of fuel prices on the economy. Then fuel prices will go back down and the cycle continues.

The snowbirds are starting to go home, so there are fewer people to buy gas. To keep up revenues, year-rounders will get stuck paying more.

Yeah, yeah ,yeah. The price needs to go down. And I remember paying a $1 for a gallon of milk as a kid. It's called inflation people, so learn to live with it.

How much has gas prices gone up in the last 30 years, compared to say the price of the cars you drive over that same time period? I don't hear people complaining about that, only because they aren't looking the price in their face everytime they pull up to a pump

This article states, "So far, consumers do not seem to be changing consumption habits much, according to both gas station managers and consumers consulted Monday." What more can a consumer do as they have cut back needless trips, bought more fuel efficient vehicles and even cancelled vacations?

Honda Fit and Toyota Yaris sales have been slowing down. The current rise in gas prices should help the dealers get those unsold cars off their lot.
