I believe anhydrous ethanol is far too susceptible to phase separation to be practically useful as a transportation fuel.

This is such a bad idea, such a waste of resources, such a political blunder, that I had better not comment further. Who knows how much, well look at that, "some new hope". I thought the current political regime had given up on that line and had adopted the Marxist "Moving Forward" slogan. Dang! I did it again!

That keeps a lot of farmers in business. It doesn't do much for the consumer though.

Poor farmers. They never had it so good! They can plant 3 times or more in the same acreage because it can be jammed in. All the farmers around here grow it. and it is simply a lazy man's farming with low maintenance and BIG profit.

I'm all for supporting farmers, but lets be real how long will it be before the Govt. is paying farmers to grow corn for fuel and not for food. Don't even get me started on the ethanol and what it does to our engines.

Like most here, I am not a fan of ethanol. I have seen too many times were it eats away at the various components in engines. We also then have to pay more to treat the fuel so it doesn't start to separate out in the gas tank.

This is a two pronged issue here.
1. The president want GM to succeed so he is insuring that they have new customers.
2. The president's wife, thinks Americans are too fat, what better way to slim them down then to raise food prices.

“There's goes many [?] sweet corn this summer.”
People should understand that sweet corn is not involved in ethanol production, which relies on field corn, which is not directly a human food. People eat field corn, of course, because it is an ingredient in many items at the grocery store.
That said, ethanol in fuel is a lose-lose-lose situation. As many here have noted, it decreases MPG, increases damage to fuel-system components, and increases the cost of food. Corn farmers and ethanol producers are the only winners in this nonsense.
