Ill. gov gives illegal immigrants permission to drive

GasBuddy Blog -- Illinois Governor Pat Quinn signed a bill giving illegal immigrants the right to drive legally Sunday, but concerns mount about whether Illinois is avoiding the problems that three smaller states incurred with similar legislation.

Fraud is one of the biggest issues being raised by critics, as problems in three other states with similar laws take hold. Washington, Utah, and New Mexico began to see hundreds of fraudulent applications for licenses after legislation in those states took hold. Illinois will not require applicants to be fingerprinted, but instead use facial recognition to deter fraud.

Governor Pat Quinn signed the legislation in Chicago Sunday alongside Chicago Mayor Rahm Emmanuel and some of Illinois top Republicans...

I know of a few seniors who are utterly unfit to drive and yet, insist on driving themselves (and others) several miles in traffic. Unsafe for everyone.

Republicans are idiots to think that by joining this in a bipartisan way they can access these votes. Surveys have shown that what the large majority of Hispanic voters want is NOT immigration and open borders, but INCREASED GOVERNMENT BENEFITS!! (i.e., more welfare). They're buying an electoral supermajority with our tax dollars.

We give licenses to illegals and without allowing their identities to be shared with the feds. Illinois passes the right to work act. Illinois allows civil unions for gays (of course our lt. gov is a lesbian and many other officials are gay. We have the worst murders rate, especially in Chicago and yet have some of the strictest gun laws. Illinois is always last in good things like education and first in thing like highest taxes and violent crime. Illinois is a place that I plan to leave in the very near future, the libs have ruined this state for all eternity.

I don't think this is the way, but at least there will be documentation on them and they are required to get insurance within a month or the license is revoked.

How will facial recognition deter fraud? Facial recognition doesn't provide an identity to an unknown person, it only can identify someone that is already known.
