Drunk driver hits car, brags on Facebook, leads to arrest

GasBuddy Blog -- Teens that drink and drive are clearly not the brightest crayons in the box, but in the case of one teen in Astoria, Oregon, he may not even be in the box of crayons.

The Daily Astorian reports that 18 year old Jacob Cox-Brown did just that, driving drunk in his Scion, before hitting a car and fleeing the scene. Somehow even while his hands could not control a 3000-pound vehicle his fingers could update his Facebook status, saying “Drivin drunk ... classsic ;) but to whoever's vehicle i hit i am sorry. :P” Incredible.

One of Jacob's more responsible Facebook friends saw the note and immediately messaged the Astoria Police, who have "an active Facebook presence", also saying "we actually use Facebook to find things not unlike...

After all they do say, you can't fix STUPID and that was STUPID, he could have hurt someone innocent or died in an accident himself... Hope he got more than probation or a slap on the hand... I live in NC and have never heard of a ticket for "failing to perform the duties of a driver"; that would have been HIT & RUN and DUI in NC!

he offending lad did three stupid things: 1- He drank too much! 2- He drove while intoxicated! 3-He ran away from the scene. .4- He compounded it, by confessing on Facebook perhaps hoping to be turned in!
