I am wondering if Tesla may have a weak front suspension. I have heard about broken steering knuckle. Front suspension may be a place for steel not aluminum. It makes you wonder when you see a Tesla on a truck what caused that? Not so much to go wrong and still there are dead ones.

Gen2 Volt is huge improvement over Gen 1. Gen 2 with the new 4 cyl engine and the two new electric motors better weight ,better battery just amazing. I know what you mean about GM. Some of their stuff is good and some is just junk. Buick Le Sabres held up well. We go to the Midwest and in certain places Buick Le Sabres and Pontiacs and some Olsmobiles are all you see. What happened to your Chevy at 73K that necessitated a new engine?

Saw some Led A19 60watt Equivalent soft whites at Home Despot for $5.97. 100Watt equivalent A19 for $ 8.97. I have seen 60 watt equivalent LED lights for as little as 4.97 recently

Sorry I think my keyboard must be giving up the ghost it seems to be dropping letters. Here is the link again. blogs.motortrend.com/1504_dissecting_chevys_2nd_gen_moonshot_technologue.html It is truly amazing. It would take a lot of engineers a long time to do this..

Just saw this in Motor Trend and it made the entire subscription worthwhile. the 2016 Volt is a major improvement on the 1st gen Volt in many ways. Chevrolet deserves much credit. I think that they have embraced the plug-in EV/hybrid as a business model and will use the developed tech in future cars. check this out blogs.motortren.com/1504_dissectin_chevys_2nd_gen_moonshot_technologue.html The article is even better on line that in the magazine. They have made huge strides for mass producing such vehicle. I think the bang for the buck rest with Chevy now.

It looks like the Tesla does not depreciate much in the first two years. That may be an artifact of the ICE car. If the used ones all come with a 4 year 50k warranty that is pretty good. The other day I saw a Tesla on a flat bed heading into the Tesla repair shop in Watertown, MA. They have set up shop practically next door to the place I worked for about 6 years. Wonder what why they trucked it in. There was no apparent damage so it was some kind of malfunction. Again lots fewer things to go wrong. Got a 22.8 today pretty good as it was kind of cloudy.

Hi Joe; regarding your ballasts, check out this YouTube video. The guy talks more than necessary, but he does explain everything well about converting to LED tubes. Check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZjpJNLT9xQc

10-pk LED at $194.50 each x 2 = 20 units total. Notice the 4.9-star review ratings. Here's the Amazon link: http://www.amazon.com/Hyperikon%C2%AE-equivalent-Single-Ended-UL-Listed-DLC-Qualified/dp/B00NXBMDEY/ref=cm_cr_pr_sims_t/175-3562621-4298441

Hey Joe.. that was a fascinating web page about EVs from the 1800s. You've got way too many fluorescent bulbs to switch over to LED. I would replace the fixtures rather than spend a ton on 20 individual tubes. (where are they used, garage, storage?) Great job on the winter heating costs. (methane) Just 2 or my months equaled your $472 although we had an unusually rare frigid winter in the South including many days of single digits highs - unheard of down here. Gotta run.. be well!

Well yard waste is one. Tree trimmings another. You can grind up the smaller stuff and make a slurry with waste paper and press briquettes. You do this in summer and store it for the winter. There are some really interesting designs for smokeless furnaces some of which are somewhat remote from the house and use water to transfer the heat into the house or as preheat for the hot water boiler/ heating system. some of these rely on thermal mass and reside inside of the house. yesterday was only an 18 but today looks better.
